No, this isn't a post about the flashback game, Operation. Actually, Brooke went under the knife today to have her gallbladder removed. She did great and is quietly recovering.

Touch Down Jesus

Katelin and Brad celebrate the recent Cincinnati Bengals win in front of the world famous "Touch Down Jesus." The sculpture is 62' tall and is reportedly the largest sculpture of Jesus in the United States.

Hot Spots in Ohio

Katelin and Brad toured around the neighborhood pointing out some their favorite spots if you are in the area--

Nothing beats about 6 White Castle Cheeseburgers and some onion chips.
.

One of our favorites--Frisch's Big Boy!! Be sure to try the Big Boy Platter and a Vanilla Coke

United Dairy Farmers--The best place to go to get that Chocolate Malt!

Skyline Chili--Home of Cincinnati style Chili. Be sure to get your Cheese Coney and a 5 Way Chili.

Sushi In Ohio

At the Sake Japanese Steakhouse in Miamisburg, Ohio, Katelin was reunited with her favorite--Chicken Katsu. My nephew Brad earned his Sushi Qualification. He started with the California Roll and then jumped to the hard stuff by eating Squid, Octopus, Tuna and Eel Sushi. On the side was Miso Soup and Seaweed Salad.

Norfolk Navy Lodge - Thumbs Down!

I just spent a few weeks in the Navy Lodge in Norfolk, Va. I can tell you It was not the best hotel experience I've had. The good points- the lodge is only minutes from the base. This is extremely important when you want to beat long traffic delays trying to get to the base. The rooms are new and nice and large, coming with a large bathroom area, two beds and a kitchen. The best point is the Direct T.V. and the CAT 5 Internet connection. Pretty good compared to the wireless access most places are providing these days. The bad points- the place is filled with traveling military families. This isn't bad; however, the walls and floors seem very thing. You hear the running of little feet day and night in the room above you, the sounds of fighting, football games, etc.. on the weekend. The entire floor smells what the family down the hall is cooking. Again, this isn't bad; however, waking up at 0530 in the morning to the smell of a wonderfully cooked breakfast is cruel unless it's offered to everyone on the floor. Overall, the location will keep this place in business. I've heard that other hotels in the area are not a whole lot better and cost more.

Lunch today was at Pho 79 in Virginia Beach, Va. It's been a while since I've had pho, and it was delicious. For those looking at the picture, don't worry, the meat was fully cooked by the time I ate it. --Not that it matters too much to me :)

Texas BBQ

Tonight I ate at the award winning San Antonio Sam's BBQ in Norfolk, Va.
I had the BBQ Brisket Sandwich and the Chili. The BBQ was the best I've ever had. The chili was good; however, I prefer my chili "Cincinnati" style.
