Happy Birthday Madison

Pics from Madison's birthday party. She recently turned 9.

Visit to San Diego, California

A couple pics from our San Diego trip.

Sayonara to Goyagome

As I get ready to leave for a while, taking care of the Nation's Business, I had to suspend my online gaming activities for a while. Yes, I've become a fan of World of Warcraft. For my friends in Japan, I hope to resume play in the future.

High Speed Internet at Navy Gateway Inns -- NOT!!

Ok, this is my third stay at one of the Navy Gateway Inns (Norfolk Naval Base, Joint Forces Staff College and Fleet ASW at Point Loma, San Diego). All the internet has been contracted to SPRINT offering residents a wireless internet. At EVERY location, the internet was horrible. The Navy should reconsider this contract as soon as possible. Slow access, dead zones and a centralized help desk makes this service useless.

Visit to the USS RECRUIT

While I was in San Diego that past week, I stayed at Point Loma. Across the street is where RTC and NTC San Diego used to be (where I went to Boot Camp 20 years ago to to the month). The only thing remaining is the USS RECRUIT, which is now a state monument.

The Girls Go Greek!

I took the girls out for a Greek lunch at the Gyro Palace, in Miamisburg, Ohio. Brooke and I went for the traditional gyros and Greek salad. Katelin couldn't get over the "carved beef" thing, so she went for the chicken kabob and fries.

Dining Elegence

After a month at sea, my dining partner and I wanted a nice steak. However, transportation challenges kept us within cab distance. We tried Magnolia Steak and Seafood Co. in Norfolk, Va.
They had 3 course special, (Bone in Pork Chop, Winter Salad and Strawberry Shortcake) for $20.00. It was very good.

Norfolk Water Front

Out and about on the Norfolk waterfront. It would be a bit nicer if it wasn't so cold!
